Biography

I joined Odonata in October 2008 and became an Equity Member to celebrate my special birthday on 09~09~09! I’ve been active in the Voice and Technology Partnerships, helping to spread the word about this wonderful community and recording our activities with photographs. I’m continually amazed at the brilliance, compassion, and talents of the people who are involved. It’s so exciting to be getting to know my future neighbors as we share in making decisions at planning meetings, eat fabulous foods at our dinners, and engage in fun events together. We are evolving from friends into family!

My passions include gardening, boogie-boarding and swimming in the ocean, playing the piano, watercolor painting, dancing, hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, photography, cooking/raw food preparing, and meditating. My original career was in physical therapy, and I now do wellness consulting with regard to nutrition, homeopathy, pH balancing, and other aspects of alternative medicine.

I’ve been a professional decorative painter for 24 years, creating unique effects on walls, floors and ceilings in residential and commercial settings. I specialize in painting murals, trompe l’oeil, faux finishes, woodgraining, cloud ceilings, and intricate stenciling. I’ve been featured on HGTV and have taught all over the country. The online art gallery of my artistry is at www.PJpaints.com. I’ve owned an international internet mail-order business for 18 years, selling my detailed stencil designs, stencil-cutting materials and supplies.

Three years ago, I started watercolor painting and I was recently honored to be an exhibiting artist at the Provident Bank in Newburyport. I’ve been enthralled by the unpredictability of this new medium and how it is a metaphor for the changes that occur in one’s life. pj@odonatavillage.org
